Bodhisattva Vow Ceremony - a commitment to unconditional compassion - with Lama Palden Drolma

Sunday, March 1 | 3 - 5 PM Pacific
In Person at Wisdom River Meditation Center & Online via Zoom

Taking the bodhisattva vow implies that instead of holding our own individual territory and defending it tooth and nail, we become open to the world that we are living in.

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

The challenges of the world are great. Fear, hatred, violence and suffering are immediately evident in our lives and the lives of others. As our spiritual path deepens our hearts open and, as a response to this suffering, the compassion that is inherent in our being naturally arises. Compassion is a tenderness of heart that understands and feels the pain and suffering of cyclic existence of both oneself and others. This gives rise to the wish that all beings be free of this suffering and ultimately liberated from samsara.

The Bodhisattva Vow is a recognition and formal statement of the aspiration to attain enlightenment, not only for oneself, but for all beings. With this vow as our compass, we traverse the path of cultivating and refining generosity, ethical conduct, patience, diligence, one-pointed concentration, and wisdom, and in doing so, come to recognize the inseparability of self and other.

Registration is required and participants must have taken formal Buddhist refuge vows.
A Refuge Vow ceremony is being offered on February 8, 2026 if you need to take refuge - learn more.
